An old, and in many cases sadly forgotten, recipe for a delicious and filling gruel.
Bring the milk to boiling temperature
Add the barley, boil for about 25-30 minutes while stirring
Chop the pears into bite-sized pieces, and add them to the gruel along with the moisture in the can
Boil for another 5-10 minutes
Recommend you serve in bowls or deep plates, with no condiments.
