Cavalry Officers

Are the officers in the cavalry from "higher" class families, enlisted that show promise, or picked another way? I guess what I'm getting at is how are they commissioned? From the day they join the cavalry or do they have to work up through the ranks to earn it.

You can buy a commission, but you won't get more than a fancy uniform if the Brothers don't approve of you militarily. It's one reason why the Tremontine military is as fearsome as it is. Officers are preferred from the upper classes, and they're more likely to get the education and training you'd need, but promising enlisted have been known to battle their way up the ranks.

FYI - asking the story question added ten points to my total instead of retracting them.

Let me know if you end up losing these points, this was an interesting enough short question I might throw a couple of points to you (in addition to considering this as a possible question route).

Did you put is in the "points story questions" place? I might be looking in the wrong place, but it's looking awfully empty to me.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the Points Story Questions link at the top is for bonus stories earned at each benchmark.

Davik, I'm not worried about the points. There or not, I'll have them back within a week or sooner depending on the conversations. Mostly the comment was to Mei because instead of taking away ten, it gave me ten.

Eh, while it's an interesting question (actually prompted me to start a list of things I may ask in the future just so I don't forget them), it's really just something of an excuse to try out the "give points" feature Blum 3

I'd hate to be the reason you didn't try something new. Besids, you want to give it a shot, who needs excuses.

I think (but am not 100%) that the "Points Story Questions" are where you can ask a question (for 10 points). This is a forum where you can ask questions about the Greater Kingdom and its world. Here, a forum topic ought to gain you two points. It will not be answered in the fashion that BCT's recently was, but rather with a forum post by the author.

...is for random questions like this one that aren't tied to a character. "What's the legal system like?" "How are cavalry officers chosen?" Things like that, that really don't need a whole story to answer. I really don't want questions like that as points questions. I want my points questions more, uh, pointed. Smile
