Wishing all a most Joyous Yule!

Today (Sunday, December 21, 2008) marks the Winter Solstice, and for me and many of my friends, the midpoint of the Yule Season. I would like to take a moment to wish everyone reading this a Joyous Yuletide, or other winter celebratory holiday of your choice. Bright Blessings!

We will open our presents to one another tomorrow, and Father Winter will come knocking at the door to leave a family present. (He's leaving Settlers of Cataan.)

Glad the daughters enjoyed the game!

Was the official game of my co-ed fraternity (our unofficial motto: we take the 'r' out of greek!). So much love for that game... Nothing like pounding sheep into clay until 3 in the morning .

I have wood for sheep!

Despite the antlers, I'm rather sure you have the wrong gender. But you know why Scotsmen wear kilts, yes? }:)

Angel I use dude as a non-gendered term
(b) because sheep can hear a zipper at 100 paces.

ETA: chicks with wood unnerve me a little. Wink

Agreed. When you meet a chick with wood, she generally knows what to do with it. Depending on your inclination, that's either really bad or really good.

I love the smell of fresh-cut pine. Or spruce. And of course, need I say anything about cedar?

A joyous Yuletide to all

and wood comes in so many varied forms, all with their own uses.... I like building furniture with wood, and sparring with bokkan, and burning it in my fireplace, and... the list goes on

Though I think for the other use, latex would really work better....

...so, you've never played Cataan, I take it. Shout that out in a crowded room, and you'll immediately know where the gamer geeks are.

There's a t-shirt with that quote, and I love it.

I think we're going to give it a shot tomorrow once I have the bonus story done.

A local friend has two of the 3-D, collectible box sets *drool*. They have the pieces for the expansions, too. They are so pretty!

It's just so much fun. My family already has it- however, what we don't have is Zombie Fluxx with the flamethrower expansion set. But come hanukkah, we will.

And dreidls. Lots of dreidls.

I soooooo want zombie fluxx. I also really want Monty Python Fluxx. Of course, I am on their mailing list and have gotten the little bonus cards in the mail. Next month, when I have a bit of extra money, I will get them.

Have a merry Yule!

Actually, it was my wedding anniversary. Granted, I didn't do anything other than clean out the car, cook cookies (lots of cookies, I only cook them once a year so I have to make up for lost time) and chase my son around the house to keep him from bullying our somewhat retarded cat (seriously, about that, poor thing).

Happy belated Yule. I don't celebrate anything specifically myself (Yule is close), I merely celebrate "The Time of Year When I Eat so Much I Can't Sleep After Wading Through Mountains of Paper (That May Or May Not Be Ingested By My Son When I Am Not Looking)". Needless to say, it is hell on my diet. I made it through Thanksgiving, but it looks like I've blown up the wagon now.

for ONE day, then hop back on the diet wagon. It's good for you. Smile

ETA: Happy holidays, everyone!

Happy holidays to all! And birthdays and anniversaries!

I was raised Catholic. Doesn't mean I'm not exploring and trying to learn as much as I can about other beliefs. Personally we still celebrate Christmas.

Whatever your holiday is, I hope it is relaxing, you enjoy it, and it is everything you want it to be.

-- there's room for EVERYONE to celebrate in their own way.

But celebrate Christmas. For me, it really is more of a solstice type of celebration. It is a time for family and gifts and food. We call it Christmas 'cause the rest of our family does. I do encourage my son to learn about other types of winter celebrations, and we incorporate things as we explore them.
Anyway, Happy Holidays, whatever you celebrate!
