Hey all : )

I've been reading since exam-procrastination last spring and thought I'd say hi. And... I don't want to keep studying molecular biology; lac operons aren't interesting anymore, so I thought I'd make an awkward introduction. I'm 19 and have a dubiously fun habit of pursuing activities I'm mediocre at, namely rowing, writing and science. Looking forward to future updates!

Biology is my favorite but I'm attempting to major in biochemistry... and chemistry isn't a strong point for me, lol.

As in crew? What type of team do you row on/ what seat?
I'm a recovering 8 seat from a women's 8+ team. I quit the addiction after high school, but the water has been calling me big time lately Wink

I'm on my college's women's varsity team, usually in the bow seat or somewhere in that general area. Been debating quitting recently, but yeah, very addictive. Except for erg tests *dies* nice meeting all of you!

Another biology major. Welcome. There is major insanity here, it's fun.

And really, lac operons don't seem so bad when faced with a 40+ page research proposal + senior thesis + finals.

I don't row, but I am a water nut. Love Scuba diving and water skiing etc. My 'hard-core sport' is rockclimbing.

Welcome!

If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!

Edit: (evidently this site doesn't like my use of html code - joys)

I've been reticent about posting so far - too absorbed in simply reading, I suppose, but I couldn't resist after seeing someone else who is drawn to many hobbies, any and all of which may fit one's abilities to a T or not at all. I'm probably more guilty of simply hobby-hopping as something catches my interest (Ooooh, shiny!) and then moving on, but there are a few which have persisted. I insist on loving volleyball, and I'm simply wretched at it. I can serve - underhand. Don't ask me to do anything else unless you want to lose possession of the ball.

On an entirely different note, I debated about icons, and finally went with one of my five month old Cavalier puppy for now. I always swore I'd never have a dog under forty pounds when grown. Enter Sophia Strawberry, add small children, shake gently, and suddenly my life is run by fifteen pounds (currently - she'll hit twenty eventually, I think) of canine.

I love the story. It didn't take me nearly long enough to catch up. Why is it that fiction races by hundreds of pages at a time, but an old testament religion text plods by paragraph by paragraph? To be fair, that particular text vies with one I had to teach from on Washington state history for worst text of all time, but still - my one complaint so far is that it doesn't last long enough! (The Intimate History, not the text.) Thank you for sharing the story, Mei.

So do we! He's Blenheim colors--chestnut and white--and he's hilarious. I never wanted a small dog, or a puppy, or a purebred, and what do I have? Mr Flopsy Dog, that's who. Oh well. His first birthday is tomorrow.
