...there is a character study to that affect.... Wink

... will, I think, always come first for me. But right now? I'm actually more excited about more Gulch. Some of that may be that the IHotGK is a book series, and I'm used to waiting for the next book. But the Gulch is a web serial, and with those I get antsy when I don't get a regular fix. Smile

Also, the more light-hearted shenanigans of the Gulch are more along the lines of what I want right now than the heavier fare of the History.

...starring one Jedediah Bonham, but I usually like to release them in clumps, not singles. Damn, so much writing, so little time...

I also vote for Gulch. History is a...book. I like it as a book. Don't get me wrong, I love re-reading it when it's released here but it's a BOOK. Gulch is shorter-burst, which works well for me these days.

Of course, I'm also interested in Aria Afton, and Machine God, and anything with the History. CHOICES!

I'm re-evaluating serializing the next book. I don't know yet, but I'm seriously thinking about not doing it any more. I'm not seeing much return on it--zero donations and few sales. I deserve to get paid, and I don't know if this model's working for me any more.

I've been desperate for more IHotGK ever since you switched from the draft to publishing. I LOVE getting the books, and especially have been wowed by the changes, but I NEED to know what happens next.

Maybe you could release the next IHotGK book first as a kickstarter/buy-only option, then serialize it a few months later, much like (I hate, to say it, because this practice drives me crazy) but much like they do TV series with purchase-only DVDs then streaming 6 months later?

I personally, would be sad to see the serialization go. For me, it's a way to pace myself reading the next installment, rather than devouring it in the course of a weekend and having to wait months/years for another. For example, with Son in Sorrow, I donated to the kickstarter and received a coupon code as soon as it was published, but read it via the web serial until April of this year, when I got impatient to see the ending and finally downloaded it.

The sole reason I'm leaning against it is that it doesn't generate sales, nor do people donate. It's like I'm dropping it into a black hole. No one uses the segments as a "book club," which I rather hoped they would.

The serializations don't seem to serve any purpose, apart from letting people read them for free. I am grateful people read me, and I also recognize I deserve at least some compensation, some return on my investment in putting it out there. Right now I'm not getting any--not even a little. It's disheartening. Rather than complain about it or feel bad about it, I figure I'll just stop doing it.

Scryer's Gulch does not fall in that category, but I'm having trouble fitting it in with all the other writing I'm supposed to be doing. I'm working harder on scheduling writing sessions for various things. Too much writing, too little time.

I have not been able to get those books out of my head ever since I read the first a year ago. Truly two of the best books I have read in years. (and I read a lot of books!)

Thank you so much! I really want to get the third book out to you guys as soon as I can. I didn't expect this last year to go as pear-shaped as it did.
