I'M PREGNANT! Jumpeveryone :CHEWY: WavemulticolorDance 4Smile :jawdrop:

ETA: I didn't get yelled at by my doctor. He actually told me that new literature shows that Lamictal is one of the safest medications I can be on while pregnant. Still can't breastfeed but thems the breaks.

I found out today! Like at 9 this morning. Jay and I had an oops on the 17th, when I checked it turned out my oops was on a fertile day. I was supposed to start ovulating 2 days after that. I have to go to the OBY-YN and confirm everything, but I got 2 pink lines on the test.

I'm terrified of what my psychiatrist is going to say. I forgot to tell him about the oops and he told me Wednesday he wanted me to have 6 more months of stability. I'm worried myself because until I can get an 'emergency' appointment I've got to keep taking my lamictal.

I will definitely keep you guys posted, and hopefully soon we'll have wedding pictures to post.

I hadn't even thought about the lamictal. Sad Can't take it while nursing either. Did you read "Why Am I Still Depressed?" There are some non-medical aids that might help you get through, notably complete darkness at night. Like, complete. Thinking of you.

That one is easier solved - formula can take its place if needed/desired. Most docs will agree that a stable mother is more important than breastfeeding. Smile Note I said most - there's always exceptions.

I didn't think about the lamictal either, though. Then again, I wasn't on it when I was pregnant with Cole. I think I took Cymbalta up until the last two months, just to give me/him time to wean off it so he wouldn't be addicted when he was born. I don't know if something like that will work to keep the edge off, though.

*hugs* You'll get through it, Pika. We can help as best as we can. Tell your psych where to stick it if they get on your case too much - it wasn't intentional. Smile

I still depressed. My doctor was going to take me off the lamictal and put me on something that was less...potent but would help with my stability.

Breastfeeding isn't an option period. He told me that breastfeeding could cause a full manic episode. I forgot how that was supposed to happen, but he's known as the breastfeeding nazi by nurses.

If it can cause a manic episode, it's probably the ox.yto.cin that's released while you breastfeed. It's what helps the mother relax, and it's also what helps with bonding. Rest assured, you'll still bond. I didn't breastfeed Cole (my milk never came in, really, and he can't suck anyways because of the cleft palate) and we bonded just fine...it just took a little longer for us! But ox.yto.cin is known as the "cuddle drug", and can cause a euphoric feeling. I can see why he'd be worried about a manic episode, depending on your...sensitivity? to different hormones and drugs.

It wasn't the case for me, and I was feeding one baby or another for four years straight, unmedicated. Not a criticism or a fiat, just my experience. Glad you can stay on lamictal. If someone told me I'd have to stop it, I'd be devastated.

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you! Biggrin

Funny thing--I saw this come up on my RSS reader and immediately thought "MeiLin is pregnant? No, it can't be Mei. It's got to be Chu." Hee, and I was right!
