We got her today from the Humane Society. She is SO SWEET. Getting used to the place now, and waking up because it's nighttime, and running around everywhere.
so adorable. I wish I could have cats, but they make me sick. Not allergic or any thing. They carry a bacteria that I easily catch...that humans aren't known for catching. o.O
Indeed. But seeing as you're my only Intimate Historian facebook friend, no one else would know about it.
I was sitting there on the couch with the kitty next to me, and she was calm and peaceful, and suddenly I looked up from my laptop with the thought, "WHAT IS THAT TERRIBLE SMELL OH GOD." I lifted up the kitty and it was just awful. My housemate is on an emergency run for febreeze now; it's seriously the worst EVER, lol. But I still love kitty, even if she arbitrarily releases pure evil upon my olfactory sense. :Sp
It's entirely possible that the kitten has a protozoa parasite in her guts that's causing the stench of doom. The last time my family adopted a kitten from a shelter, he had the same problem, but whatever the vet gave us for it cleared it up no problem.
Of course, then there's the ordinary, natural variety of stench of doom that pets can produce....
says they dewormed her, but there's also a number of vets in the area that will do a free checkup within seven days of adoption, so we'll get her checked out shortly. Just in case.
The protozoa I'm thinking of is a single-celled parasite that isn't touched by the regular deworming medicines (since they're designed to act against nematodes a/k/a roundworms). It could also be the super cheap quality food she was getting at the shelter, which I totally don't blame them for (it's better than no food!!) but probably didn't help.
Vet + average or better quality food. Poor Phoebe, what a reputation to get stuck with so young!
We met in real life, so I feel that HE probably feels like it's somewhat legit. Can't speak for him though, and I WAS the one who initiated the request.
Looks like a tiny little version of one of my oldest sister's cats. (Between her and her husband they have four... insanity!)
I have to admit, it's a pretty damn cute little ball of allergens (and stench). 'course, as a dog person I don't have much high ground to stand on for the stench question.
oddly enough I think the most adorable things about kittens is there needle sharp claws and teeth. they don't really hurt when they bite you, it's just kinda adorable. of course, the kittens I played with were only play biting me, I'm sure even their tiny jaws could hurt quite a bit.
Kittens are quite adorable. Beware if she tries to suckle upon your tasty flesh, because then she will kneed you with claws. But the purring is adorable...adorable pain.
This morning when I came downstairs she was sitting on the couch looking at me, and the second I started walking towards her she started purring so loud I could hear it from across the room. I melted and died.
And um, rather like some Intimate Historians I know, she has a fascination with boobs. <.>
Her level of adorable even counteracts my fear that at any time she could release a demon out of her bowels onto my clothes.
Well, the two dogs *do* take up some of the space that they cats don't. Four cats is more than enough, though... Damn, but those furballs really go through kitty litter.
