Another Person joins the bandwagon

I tend to write a lot of poetry & prose. This piece was the result of a simple question a friend asked in passing. What happens when two empaths play?" Two days later when I had the time, this demanded to be let out of my brain.

Empath To Empath
7/22/07

Empath to empath
touch for touch,
sensations doubled back
then quadrupled and more.

He and she
where do they stop?
where do they meet?
everything multiplied and squared.

Caresses felt
him to her and back again.
Kisses experienced
her to him and back for more.

Both knowing
the play with mondanes,
They feel only
the sensations of partner and self.

All gloves come off
empath to emapth,
The play fully unfolds
every touch cycles back without end.

Ever wonder what it’s like
when the gods make love?
Only if you dare,
touch me empath to empath.

First quiver to last
and well beyond,
Links must and will be forged,
mortals playing a god’s game.

Empaths at play hear the gods laugh,
drink of Aphrodite’s nectar,
eat of Eros’s ambrosia,
then try and settle
for pretzels and beer.

Empath to empath
touch for touch
sensations doubled back
then quadrupled and more.

I never considered what it would be like to...play...with a fellow empath. Hm. Very nice.

Must try it some time. The intensity is not to be believed. Simple kisses will linger on your lips for Days on end.

Really? It's a common feature in scifi/fantasy whenever there are depictions of adult telepaths or similar forms of mental powers. Maybe it's just my choice of authors, although I'm know both Mercedes Lackey and Anne McCaffrey have played with the idea. It's practically the whole point of Lisanne Norman's Sholan Alliance series.

It's very addictive and lots of fun. Writers myself included can not come close. Emotional maturity of the empaths helps a lot in keeping things on a level resembling sane.

A wonderfully crafted work. I'm not usually one for poetry, but this one is a very nice piece. Just a small nitpick on my part. Quatrain number 8 is the only quintain in the poem. Either it should be a quatrain (IMO), or perhaps a 3-quad 1-quint meter would work, too. Also, in the same verse, I think it would be more proper to "try TO settle" rather than "try AND settle". Over all, though, well done. I felt like one of those empaths (irony! Actually, not, but appropriate to the common mis-definition of irony).

Like the work. #8 is meant to be different from the others for a couple of reasons. Angel It's a warning of addiction that I want taken seriously. (b) It makes itself and the rest of the poem stand out more.

I will however take your advice and use the word TO. and I thank you for it.

The first thing that came to mind was a scene from B5...

I know the scene you are talking about, and while it is a very powerful scene it was not even a ghost of a thought in my head when I wrote the poem. Hope you liked it anyway.
