hallo, midwesterners

I realize that we live "in the middle of a big expanse of nothing" (in V's words Blum 3 ) so it's unlikely we'll be able to gather en mass, but in keeping with the, um, tradition(?) of having meetups at RenFests, I would like to float the idea of a MLM meetup at the KC RenFest.

It runs from Sept 5th to October 18th in Bonner Springs, KS

I know there are a few of us on here from Missouri. This is doable from KS (natch) Iowa, and Nebraska...possibly Oklahoma & Arkansas, depending on your tolerance for travel :davie:

I have a couple of full weekends in September already, but my October is wide open

yeah yeah :twss:

So I thought I'd get this out there and see if there was any interest at all.

I took that pic at our regional last year. Thought it was cool how it came out heart-like

If you had to replace Neil Patrick Harris with another picture, you have chosen well.

Swapping one flame for another was a good choice.

i got all excited when i saw this, then i realized that KC is a 5 hour drive across the state from me, which means it would take approximately 8 years for me to walk my slow ass from st. louis haha.

no, but seriously, methinks i smell an opportunity for road tripping!

story doctor is from the StL area as well, though I don't know if she is planning on the meetup or not.

We're gonna miss you by a week--we'll be at Lake Eufaula over Labor Day weekend. My Dad lives about 30 minutes from Norman...but April is one of the worst months for traveling for us (I'm always 10 layers deep in projects and crafts and shit for our regional at the beginning of May)

poop

Sweet ship, tho :pirate:

has completely filled up. Crazy how that happens. But any of the three weekends in October (plus Columbus Day) would work for me still (for the KC RenFest) And please don't be put off by their craptastic website. The festival itself is a really good time.

Going once...

Going twice...

Or maybe it'll just be Enid and yours truly partying like it's 1599 :nerd:

i know that last year it was awesome, despite losing my stuffed penguin knight somewhere on the grounds. so i'm all excited for this year, i may even break out the glasses with the pink skulls and crossbones on em.

that does look like fun. I very clearly live on the wrong side of the state. Of course, I already knew that Blum 3

I'm due in october, or I would so be there. I don't think I can justify driving 6 hours away from my hospital at that time, though. Sad

Dangit...renfest.

geez...what kind of priorities are those? Wink

If this doesn't work out, I'm sure there is something else that will happen 'round these parts at SOME point. Or we'll MAKE something happen.
