The new theme looks great in firefox! I'll check it in IE 7 and post back in about 3 minutes.
ETA: Looks great in IE, too
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 2:47pm
If you make your window really really small, the white box in the top right starts overlapping the logo... but hopefully no one's going that small? Plus the Who's Online thing drops down below the Active Topics and Recent Blog boxes.
In IE7, if you shrink it, the eilin Miranda image drops below the M and the white box isn't quite as far over but still about halfway over the top ad. Same Who's Online thing.
Safari 3.2 for Windows acts the same as Firefox.
So basically it looks lovely except for weird fringe behavior when people have itsy bitsy browsers, and really, you shouldn't be reading it that crunched anyway
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 2:58pm
I show several people logged in multiple times...otherwise, I like it.
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 11:00pm
I occasionally see *you* logged in multiple times... rarely anyone else.
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 3:07pm
That's not a theme thing, I think that's a TheBoy thing. I'm not seeing it myself.
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 3:42pm
Not seeing 'em anymore. odd.
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 3:49pm
Sixth Sense jokes are too cliche now. IwillnotmakeoneIwillnotmakeoneIwillnot...
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 4:05pm
I'm still trying to figure out a way to work that red book background in, somehow, without ruining the readability.
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 4:54pm
I like red, and I like cream-white, but more importantly, no more weird wasted space at the top. Keee !
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 5:12pm
And it's uh... yellow.
Otherwise, looks great!
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 5:18pm
The posts when there's a long lists of posts (looking at newest-first) seem to blend together. can we add margin-bottom or something? just to make it easier to visually separate them...
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 5:45pm
The comments are not wholly themed yet; they're very bare-bones.
Any other requests?
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 6:01pm
Just switched over...
I like it. It gets mighty white at the bottom of the site, though.
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 6:02pm
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 6:27pm
Maybe the red could go on the sides...?
I dunno. I like it though.
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 6:41pm
Ack. Okay, I'm such an OCD/Taurus/type-A/controlling person. I do not like change. This new format is freaking me out. Everything is white and floating... and, and, and everything MOVED. waaaaaahhhh....
In other words: no useful comments, aside from the blah-all-white, until I adjust. I think it's going to take a while. A long while.
(but I LIKED the gold and red boxes keeping everything put...)
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 2:44am
... yellow and creamy. I already miss the Tremontine Red. And believe it or not, I got so used to the two slim columns on the right and the main column on the left, that having the main column in the middle now looks odd to me...
Also, going smaller than about 980 pixels wide, which isn't really that small, will squish things into each other (SeaMonkey under WinXP). (I don't like to read columns with lots of text when they're reeeeeaaaally wide. On MLM, having the browser window about 900 pixels wide would be about ideal for me, except that at that width, the left column squishes into the main column.)

I read this post and thought "Huh, this new design looks just like the old one." I even changed from the fluidgrid to the default, and nothing changed. Then I switched back again, and BAM, there's this new design.
Kudos. I very much like the yellow, but the fade to white is rather... blarg. I much rather liked the way the red background was locked to the background rather than the foreground. The red seemed to fit the tone of the story, looking more in line with the period; the yellow, however, seems more modern but in a good way.
Has anyone else noticed the badges are missing?
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 8:03pm
Everything looks the same to me. Or at least, not notably different.
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 8:09pm
Physically change the theme from the dropdown menu under the twitter box. I did the same thing.
Edit: On the "Meilin" theme, the dropdown menu is all the way at the bottom, under the "Active Forum Topics" menu.

Woah! I kind of liked the bookishness of the last layout change, but this is good too. The logo on this one isn't quite as spiffy, or maybe I've just gotten attached to the tower M.
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 10:17pm
d'oh! I'll fix that.
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 10:38pm
This works MUCH better for me. The other theme scrolled very slowly and awkwardly.
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 2:52am
I'm with Capriox. I like the reeeeeed.....
I don't like it centered.
Having most of the boxes at the bottom is an interesting change, and one I don't mind too much.
I miss the box behind the text.
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 3:22am
Maybe it's just me, but I find this theme rather... distracting? I think it has potential but it looks extremely busy, much more so than the last one (though it took me a few days to be able to read chapters on that one, mostly because I wasn't used to it rather than it being too busy). The header looks a little too.. unprofessional, too? Or too much drop shadow.. Something is just throwing me off.
Could be just me, though.
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 6:39am
but I have a hard time figuring out the indentation of the comments once there's no sidebar, since I have nothing to base it on. And when I read it on my Blackberry the ad's on the sidebar are all stacked up on top instead of underneath like before. I don't know if anyone else has that happen on a mobile device or just me.
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 9:10am
... comment indentation is harder to figure out now than it was on the old theme.
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 8:01am
I do have for the fluidgrid theme: either put a 'track' on the bottom like you had it before, or put the user account box at the bottom! Or maybe an 'up' button under each post, like so many forums have? Something so you don't have to scroll all the way back up to get the newest post page.
Thu, 05/28/2009 - 7:33pm
I kind of agree with this, but I was thinking more of have everything at the top. In other words starting with the Meilin logo and all the menus, Start through Search, always have them be at the top, so no matter how far you scroll down, you always have access to those menus, that they are always the header. Make sense? Maybe it's just personal preference, but I like easy access to everything.
Thu, 05/28/2009 - 7:57pm
Repeats at the bottom of the page.
Thu, 05/28/2009 - 8:51pm
That works! Thanks!
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 3:41pm
This is kind of mindfucking me right now. I'm not sure if it's just because it's new, or because it's a bit busy, but it's kind of overwhelming at the moment. Hmmm... Not sure how to explain... My eye keeps looking for more delineation between different segments, like between sidebar and main text area, etc. I miss the division. Maybe it's just me, though?
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 4:07pm
No, that's sorta part of what I was freaking out about. Everything seems to be sorta floating, especially when it gets into the all-white below the top third or so of the page.
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 5:10pm
I'm trying to make it LESS busy! What's making it look busy! :O
I gave the comments more indentation, and I flipped and "fixed" (pinned to one place) the background. Still working on where the book graphic can go, but since it's already "busy," maybe I shouldn't.
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 5:39pm
It's the side bar on the left. We read from left to right, and so having a bunch of stuff on the left that isn't content might make it feel cluttered? What if you moved that stuff to the right side and the account stuff to the left? At that point you have the "useful" stuff on the left and it might make it seem less cluttered.
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 6:01pm
I have to have the ads to the left, according to my contract with Blogads. I'll super-ultra-double check that...ok, I can have ads to the right, as long as they're the first ads in the column. I'll try flipping everything.
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 7:19pm
on my Blackberry. It's a lot easier to get to the actual content now.
Wed, 05/27/2009 - 8:15pm
Much better! That helps a great deal.
Thu, 05/28/2009 - 1:05am
When I go into the one of the sub forums (saw it in Random, assume they're all like that) the topic titles are all huge. I suspect they're using H1 or H2 header tags.
Thu, 05/28/2009 - 5:32am
Thu, 05/28/2009 - 8:38pm
When I look at the tracking page, I see one layout, when I read a forum, it's the new layout.
And the bottom menu cuts across at different areas...
Thu, 05/28/2009 - 9:02pm
Thu, 05/28/2009 - 9:21pm
The defult. Not sure if it's the fixed width or not.
Then fluid grid in a forum.
Thu, 05/28/2009 - 9:31pm
Is anyone else seeing this?
