Hockey anyone?

Totally off subject of anything , but I saw a few topics about happiness, and I just have to say what makes me happy this time of year is playoff hockey! So I was just curious if there are any other hockey fans out there, because I just feel the need to bond with someone else who gets the excitement from it! Smile

I'm a huge fan, Flyers and Caps are my two favorite teams. Yes, I know it's weird to have two, but what can I say? Originally from PA, so hence the Flyers, and I like the Caps, because I grew up going to Hershey Bears games (parents still have season tickets, so when I am home, get to see more games!), and they are affiliated, so I have seen half the team play up to that level, so it's cool to see the guys I have seen over the years.

Okay, I'm done going on, if I am the only fan, than sorry to waste everyone's time! But hopefully there is at least someone else who gets it! Jumpeveryone

But I like to see the Caps do well--my bro. is a bigger fan.
Don't like the Pens--just on principle--Eff Pittsburgh.

to the Pens. Just because of the whole growing up in PA thing. Silly reason I know, but Pittsburgh isn't that bad... well most of the time anyway. In any case Caps at least made it to Round 2, so I am excited about that! Smile

you could like both the pens and the flyers.

I was from cleveland (am still kinda), so I don't like Pitt teams.

Yeah, well I'm weird like that. That's what happens when you grow up in the middle of nowhere.

I know nothing at all about ice hockey, so I'm not sure how different it is, but I used to play field hockey in high school. I do remember the day I stopped playing, when a shot broke the ball protector (I was the goalkeeper). I was very glad I had worn it that day, and agreed to finish the tournament, with a replacement of course. That was it for my hockey career though. Footballs (soccer balls) are much less painful to stop. Idea

Well field hockey is definitely a different beast all together. Same general idea of put the ball/puck in the net, and you have offense/defense, but that's about it. I played field hockey way back in high school. It was fun, but I think I would have had more fun if I had played goal. I play goal on the ice now and love it. All I can say is it takes a special (aka crazy kind) to let people shoot pucks at you Smile Sorry your experience wasn't as much fun!

yeah, I really was in goal just because I'm always in goal in football, so the coach said, hey we don't have a goalie, you're a goalie, get out here. It was pretty fun before that one time, but after that I just decided I didn't want to get anything broken. I think I would have had more fun with hockey in the field.

I'm not so much into the pro hockey, but love to watch the college matches.

My dad played in a non-contact league at University of Michigan when I was a kid.

I once went to an Indianapolis Ice game, but I wasn't particularly impressed.

I go to school near Philly, so I've definitely become a Flyers fan. So disappointed in them right now though Blum 3 That just means I'll have to root for the Caps now (they're playing against the Pens next right?)

I've only recently started following it, though. I've always enjoyed watching hockey, but now I have friends who follow it religiously, and they've sucked me into it. I love it! Dance 4

Yeah, very disappointing how the Flyers lost! They just couldn't seem to be consistent enough! I thought they would at least fight a little harder. Oh well, always next year! But yeah, Caps and Pens, Caps up by one, game 2 tonight, exciting stuff! Glad to see you have gotten sucked in! Smile

I'm originally from Michigan, and my entire family supports the Redwings. Except sometimes some of us who have migrated out of Michigan have trouble finding the games on tv...

Can't say I am a fan of the Red Wings, although I do love Chris Osgood, always thought he got a bad rap. I have to admit, hoping the Ducks knock them off Smile

But I get regular updates from the guys at work.
I was never a huge playoff fan (unless the 'nucks are doing well) but we've always watched olympic hockey.
Of course, the last world juniors were held here, and I was given some tickets to that, as well as the local A level team. I've always enjoyed live hockey more.

Live hockey is always so much better, just something about being there and being part of the atmosphere. Olympic hockey is actually what got me into hockey originally, way back in 92. But I love playoff hockey, so much fun.

Big hockey fan. I'm a Penguins fan (and I have been since I was a kid in the '80s, so no bandwagon crap here).

So happy to see a fellow big hockey fan! How about last night's game, Ovie and Sid with the hat tricks?! Craziness!

90s Penguins hockey was great, with Mario and Jagr, had a friend who worked at the Igloo in late 90s and would get to see some of the players some of the time behind the scenes, kind of cool.

So what do you think, can your team pull it out to win from 2 games down?
