Coming out of my shell

What can you say about a self-proclaimed genius, jack of all trades, master of none, and King of his own world?

Not much.

So I won't.

Ok, maybe a little.

I hail from a (relatively) large city in northern Alabama, where I live with my wife and four pleasantly temperamental (emphasis on mental) cats, Buster, Annabelle, Abby, and Raven. I sell appliances by day and by night, pretty much the same. But late at night (usually after Colbert), I live a secret life of mystery and intrigue, causing mischief in the lands of Azeroth and Outland. My dream in life is to be a career couch potato and to beta test video games for fun and profit. If that fails, I have plans to start my own comic book company and publish my own work for fun and profit. If that fails. . . well, I guess I'll be one of the faceless drones in corporate America until I'm too old for my company to bleed anything else useful out of me. Nice outlook on life, isn't it?

In my spare time I'm a closet conspiracy theorist, a raging pessimist (I prefer realist), an unbridled intellect, an unstrung hero, a rapier wit, and a flaming (ok, maybe not that far) procrastinator.

Then there's my artistic abilities. Whether it be drawing or writing, most times I get my hands on a pencil or keyboard, something meaningful is left on the page. The problem lies in getting my hands on something.

Interests and hobbies include but are not limited to:

Reading, writing, drawing. All things art.
Comics. Published: Sonic the Hedgehog, Transformers in all forms, Marvel and IDW both
Online: Bob and George; Girl Genius; No Rest for the Wicked; Girly and Cute Wendy; Better Days; LFG Comic; Questionable Content; and the King of them all, Sluggy Freelance, napstitches! There are others, but I'm too lazy to list them all
Role-playing and online RPGs. World of Warcrack addict if I ever knew one, though I am recovering slowly. (I wonder if there is a connection between my abandonment of WoW and becoming active in the fora. Who knows?) Magic: the Gathering when I can.
Music. Adult contemporary, Top 40, Big Band, Comedy, Contemporary Christian, Christian Rock, Country, Classic rock, Modern Rock, Heavy Metal, Retro, Disco, some Rap, Easy Listening, New Age and Instrumental, Broadway, Celtic and Irish traditional. . .Have I missed any?
Collectibles. Hot Wheels, Lego Bionicle, anything else that catches my eye.

As an aside, I got here through a link on one of the webcomics I frequent. Might have been Misfile or Questionable Content, I'm not sure. Because of AIHO--uh, MLM, rather--I also found ToMU, MToMU, Void Dogs, and S.R. Suleski's site. For that, I am much appreciative.

Ok, time to deflate my ego. Catch you on the flipside.

Seriously. Well-written stuff. But one question--what exactly is an unstrung hero? You rock out on Guitar Hero at expert level?

We can always use another raging realist around here Biggrin And I know what you mean...I could never have been this active here while I was playing WoW

An unsung hero is one who does something for the good of others and usually doesn't get any credit for it. Their ballad goes unsung, as it were.

An unstrung hero is one who does something for the good of others and usually is plumb slap insane.

I haven't yet gotten into the Guitar Hero craze, but now that I have more free time (or rather, less wow time), I may. That'll take convincing the missuz that I need another game, though. And I think I'd rather have a WII fit anyway.

And I said what I meant.

I am definitely unstrung.

The unstrung description is hilarious, and probably fits me as well Smile As far as your avatar, to use a quote "not all who wander are lost".

My boyfriend always makes the joke that we started dating less than a month after he quit WOW. Coincidence. . . ?

What kind of non-computer RPGs do you like? I'm a huge RPG fan.

I never actually got into table-top RPGs, though I still want to try. Something about being raised in Alabama. DnD is of the devil, m'kay.

I used to do text based RPG through AOL and MSN. Lame, I know, but they were based on DnD rules.

Thankee. I got the idea when I used to watch daytime tv game shows.

And since you're here, I have to ask. Is that a calf in your icon? And is it being born or wrapped up in something?

LOL! It's actually three baby goats, all snuggled together. It was a set of triplet sisters born on my farm two years ago. I have the (larger, easier to see) original photo on my computer; I can post it here if you want to see it.

I must say, you sound like an interesting fellow. Then again, i might be biased as you seem interested in a lot of the same things as me Blum 3
Looking forward to get to know you better, i'm sure we can have some interesting discussions sometime Smile

Believe it or not, this intro is almost word for word taken from my livejournal.

And the avatar sums up my state of mind. See the "unsung/unstrung" discussion above.

Although unstrung heroes may be a sad lot, they're the ones that are most lasting, most fun to read, and they're the ones who change the world. To quote an old friend:
SOME SHADOWS ARE SO LONG, THEY ARRIVE BEFORE THE LIGHT.

Welcome, and I hope you stick around.
