Alice really knocked this one out of the park, especially in her resemblance to Ellika. This character study is available as a high-resolution file suitable for printing.

*oh* that's just.... wow. this is definitely one of my favorite character portraits to date.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 6:08pm
She's so pretty!
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 5:53pm
I'm not terribly keen on her face. Which isn't to say it's not well done--because it is.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 6:01pm
Though she was described as looking like Ellika, I always imagined her with darker hair, probably because of her personality similarity to Sedra. On an entirely unrelated note, that is a fine looking woman.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 10:26pm
I always picture her like Sedra, which isn't supported by the text at all but that's how I always see her.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 6:04pm
I just realized, we now have the entire royal family in color... Except Temmin! Madness.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 6:06pm
One of his b/w portraits is also up, which is what may be confusing you.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 6:21pm
She looks perfect - similar to Ellika, but a little sadder, more somber. Wonderful.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 6:57pm
But the full figure is pouting and sour. I don't think Ansella is pouty or sad. She's pensive, but not sour. I prefer the black and white sketch. Her mouth was happier.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 7:07pm
I agree, I like the headshot a lot better. She's gorgeous! I didn't like the b&w, though, mostly because it was obviously a sketch and the facial features seemed a bit off. But the final version of the close-up.... QuILF indeed, were that my preference.

It's Ellika who looks like Ansella... not the other way around.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 7:55pm
But similar to manoki, I imagined her pensive or even sad, but the turn of her mouth seems a bit sour or openly bitter. She looks a bit guarded or weary in the headshot, which captures my image of her well.

What I like is I see Ellika in her in the full-body portrait, but I see Sedra in her in the close up. I think the artist did a fantastic job of giving Ansella physical traits of both girls (to show how she gave traits to both of them).
She is pretty, but not as beautiful as I'd expected, but she is s spot on as the mother of her children that I love it
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 8:24pm
Ansella and Harsin look too young in my opinion in their portraits =/ Yeah they look nice...but some wrinkles here and there would make it look better.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 9:14pm
And Elly really does look like her! I think this portrait may be one of my favorites.
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 9:41pm
And her boobs! That looks way better than I thought it was going to based on the black-and-white sketch! Nicely done
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 11:09pm
She's a lot bustier than her daughters!
Mon, 03/16/2009 - 11:19pm
And you haven't seen Sedra in profile.
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 12:42am
I... really didn't picture Ansella like this, I don't know why. I pictured her blonde, but she looks so young, not older than 25... something about the dress makes her look very short and plump, and the image I had in my mind was more waif-like. Meh I dunno, someone tell me if it's just me.
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 7:08am
Hrm. I'm not sure a woman would be waiflike after having three children. I'd assume one needs to be strong to give birth to, as well as raise three children who have survived to adulthood in a world like Tremont.
Plus, she rides horses!
This, of course, is me blathering random stuff from my imagination though. I could be wrong.

Bravo and well done. The color translated well from the sketch. I do agree that she seems to look angry or bitter in the full shot, where in the close-up, she seems happier. Excellent job all around.
As for my title, it seems that yes, QuILF is a word. I hereby claim it as my own, and anyone that uses it owes me royalties (pun very much intended).
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 12:14pm
The News: it was already in use elsewhere on the internets. Your claim is weak.
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 9:14pm
That pun was Torg approved. I don't see why you don't like it.
I think Capriox linked something in the other Ansella post, but multiple pages makes my iPhone cry. WTB gen 3.

Generally, the worse a pun is, the better I like it.

Then you must loooooooove Sluggy Freelance.

I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing that out.
In response to the graphjam, Ansella does rank just below Amidala, but not by much.
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 8:33am
These are beautiful portraits. They capture those little quirks that tell us so much very very well.
That said. I'm fair like Ansella....and I look just as silly as she does with eyeliner all the way around the eyes. Darker complected peoples can get away with it...but *sigh* oh well. She is queen after all.

As lashes. At least not intended to be eyeliner.
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 2:30pm
Honey colored hair and eyebrows and thick black lashes?
Nope, don't buy it at all. Unless she dyes...
Alright, I'll go back to my corner now
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 2:44pm
Both her eyes and Elly's eyes looked squinty without more definition.
Thu, 03/19/2009 - 12:06pm
I was a natural blonde when younger, with eyebrows so light they were barely noticed but my eyelashes were always black. Nature can be weird.
Thu, 03/19/2009 - 12:12pm
I have a close friend who is really, really blond, but she has dark eyelashes. Her eyebrows are darker than Ansella's though.
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 4:28pm
She is very pretty, and very much like her youngest daughter (at the moment). I did expect her to be a bit plumper, but this is very nice. Once again, excellent work.
Tue, 03/17/2009 - 11:10pm
She looks much as I pictured her, and I can definitely see her daughters in her as well. I like the clothes almost as much as the portraits. She's done a great job with defining the period dress and personality in each outfit.
Thu, 03/19/2009 - 8:44am
I thought she was older, though.
Although now that I think about it, late twenties/early thirties is reasonable.
Thu, 03/19/2009 - 9:03am
Her daughter Sedra is about to get married! Assuming Sedra is three or four years older than Temin, that makes Sedra 20 at least. So Ansella couldn't be in her 20's. Late 30's or early 40's I would think.
Thu, 03/19/2009 - 9:48am
... 39, if memory serves.
Thu, 03/19/2009 - 9:26am
I've been trying to figure out who Ansella reminds me of, and I've just decided that it's Meg Ryan. Something about the nose, I think, and really mostly in the headshot.
Thu, 03/19/2009 - 11:07am
She is 39, but she has retained her looks very well and could pass almost for 10 years younger. As for Meg Ryan, I can see what you mean; Ansella, like Ellika, was based on the actress Kimberly Nixon. But what surprised me the most is how much she ended up resembling one of her character inspirations: Princess Diana. The only part of Diana that I took for Ansella was the devotion to her children, and the conviction that they deserved a normal childhood, but that's a big chunk of who Ansella is.
Thu, 03/19/2009 - 11:13am
That's who she reminds me of: Diana!
Sun, 05/17/2009 - 2:39am
She is a beautiful woman. I love the slightly sad wistfulness that has been captured & portrayed here. Awesome work.
